The diplomatic education in the Cuban Revolution

Abstract

The training of diplomats in Cuban universities dates back to the Republican era. After the triumph of the Revolution, due to the consequent changes in the projection of foreign policy and the need for personnel training, university and postgraduate training centers specialized in International Relations were created in 1961. These were the First Manuel Bisbé School of Foreign Service, the Institute of Foreign Service, the Higher Institute of Foreign Service and the current Cuban diplomatic academy, the Raúl Roa García Higher Institute of International Relations. These schools and programs have witnessed a constant improvement of their teaching methods and extracurricular activities. They constitute a paradigm of the political and governmental will of a nation that promotes and exercises an independent and autochthonous foreign policy, of and for the Cuban people and of students committed to their professional and comprehensive training.
