Gibraltar: Europe's last colony

Gibraltar is a British overseas territory located in the south of the Iberian Peninsula. It has a border only with Spain, a country that claims its sovereignty. This colony has always been one of the most coveted geographical features of the peninsula for its position at the Strait. That is why three hundred years after Spain ceded Gibraltar to the United Kingdom, tensions between countries resurfaced in a detonated dispute, apparently for maintaining the border surveillance. Within these tensions, Gibraltarians argue that Spanish claims are unfounded, pointing to the right to self-determination of all peoples. The conflict between the two countries over Gibraltar appears and reappears periodically, now with a particular force because it was affected by a very important agreement such as Brexit.
