Abstract

After the end of Rafael Correa´s government and the begining of a neoliberal derive in 2017, Ecuador has experienced a deep crisis of governance and insecurity, marked by the loss of support from all the paradigms of national politics and the rise of transnationalized criminal organizations. The successive escalations of the problem of public security led to greater social polarization and a scenario of widespread violence and distrust on the part of the population towards the political class. In the midst of that context there was the emergence of a new right-wing populist government, led by the young businessman Daniel Noboa, who initially presented himself as moderate, but who has managed to capitalize on popular support by betting on radical positions, with the presentation of a messianic and justice strategy of confronting organized crime and corruption. To fulfill his goal of being re-elected, the new executive has resorted to abrupt and unorthodox methods, which present him to the electorate as an effective and bold government. Proof of this were actions such as the declaration of the Internal Armed Conflict or the assault on the Mexican embassy in Quito. In relation to the above, the present work aims to analyze the radicalization of the populist policy of the government of Daniel Noboa, examine the causes of his coming to power and characterize the historical evolution of his government actions.
