The ASEAN's regional and global positioning (2020-2023)

Abstract

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations has gained greater relevance in the post-Covid-19 era as a result of its policies and economic successes. Due to its geostrategic position, it is of great interest to regional and extraregional powers. ASEAN has achieved economic performance, has significantly expanded its relations with the world, and continues to be a point of attraction for foreign direct investment, even though since 2020, the world has been experiencing an economic and financial crisis that affects emerging markets and developing economies to a greater extent. This article aims to analyze ASEAN’s economic and political positioning from 2020 to November 2023 to understand the success of this integration mechanism.
