The Republic of Türkiye faced with the escalating conflict in Gaza: navigating between two banks?

Turkey has established itself as a leading nation in the region. Following the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip, it showed its support for the Palestinian cause and its disapproval of Israeli actions. Turkey's stance can be seen as an alternative put forward by President Erdogan to consolidate a popular support base within Turkish society and as a way to increase his influence with Arab leaders. This article seeks to explain the position of the Republic of Turkey in relation to the Gaza conflict, focusing on the stance taken by its President, and by the people of that nation, in the face of the ongoing Israeli genocide.
